In April 2009, both the Chief Executive's Department & Borough Secretary's Department will be restructured. This will result in a small Chief Executive's Unit, providing direct support to the Head of Paid Service in his range of responsibilities, both within the Authority & in the Sub Region. Services included within the Chief Executive's Unit will be Communications & Mayoral & Civic Support Services

The current Policy & Performance Division will become the Performance & Delivery Division with an emphasis upon improving the Authority's performance & delivery across the range of National Indicators as well as its LAA.

Services included within the new Division will be the ‘hub' of the proposed performance improvement service; the performance monitoring of the LAA; ensuring the involvement of partners & adding their value in driving forward the LAA, together with engaging the public in the planning & delivery of services.

The existing Cabinet Support Unit will be enhanced to create a Council Governance Unit, responsible for supporting all the decision making bodies of the Council.

At the same time, restructuring within the Borough Secretary's Department will see the creation of a Member Support Unit aimed at providing professional support to our Councillors in their expanding role as representatives & advocates of their communities.
